A new paper by Xtreme Everest has been published today in Nature journal.
The paper entitled Metabolomic and lipidomic plasma profile changes in human participants ascending to Everest Base Camp looks at the effects of high altitude on healthy humans. Blood samples were taken from 198 participants before and during the 2007 Caudwell Xtreme Everest expedition to Everest Base Camp. Samples were taken at Kathmandu (1,300m), Namche (3,500m), Pheriche (4,250m) and finally Everest Base Camp (5,300m).
