Oscar win for The Cure: Doctors on Everest director

Congratulations are in order to Orlando von Einsiedel, who directed the episode of Al Jazeera’s The Cure series, which followed the 2013 Xtreme Everest expedition to Everest, who has won an Oscar for Best Short Documentary at this years ceremony for his film White Helmets.

Orlando's film follows the White Helmets, who are a volunteer rescue group working in rebel-held areas of Syria. Running at 40 minutes long, this action packed documentary sheds light on the lives of these volunteers who risk their own life to rescue those trapped in rubble of buildings destroyed by bombing raids. Ordinary men become extraordinary heroes.
