Wired Magazine

Xtreme Everest have been featured in the latest issue of Wired magazine as they look at the history of our research, what we've been able to find out and what this means for patients in ICU.

Prof Mike Grocott tells the story of how Xtreme Everest came to be and the trials and tribulations of conducting research in an extreme environment. Also mentioned is the Sherpa community who over the years have not only supported us logistically by carrying (or herding yaks) up to Everest base camp with our equipment, but by also participating in the research to help us discover what makes them "super humans". The work undertaken by the team, and in particular by Dr Andrew Murray and his team who are based in Cambridge, now means work can begin on looking at new drugs that could possibly help in treating hypoxia, as well as helping to inform the next stages of our research.

The March/April issue is out now in shops.
